Nice. The comparison, of course, evokes the school year, which is perfect in terms of evoking the season when students begin to shuffle papers. Of course, there's another more negative reading possible that answers the question: Why are the papers ostensibly also flying through the air (like leaves) when the bell rings? ;)
The leaves dying and falling off trees resembles me dying a little inside as the wind blew my papers out of my hands; my school papers were so sacred. :P
